The new 'Busan Metropolitan Opera' sits at the intersection point of the two bridges leading up to the competition site, tying the Opera into the city fabric while at the same time interweaving it with the picturesque waterfront promenade. The ensemble of opera and multifunctional theater further divides the site into a series of differentiated territories, each of which fully draws on the potential of a site suspended between city and sea.
An urban plaza facing Busan’s skyline invites visitors and locals alike to wile away the hours on hot summer nights while a gently sloped seaside stage allows for unobstructed vistas across the water. It is here where people meet to see performances on the outdoor stage or simply watch as cruise ships go by. Finally, a rooftop terrace serves as a third main plaza, offering stunning views of both the city as well as the waterfront.
At the very heart of the site, however, the Opera itself is located, designed to be perceived as a shimmering iconic figure which sits on the edge of the waterfront like an iceberg. Programmatically it is lifted off of the ground and seamlessly connects the interior polifunctional foyer to the aforementioned surrounding plazas, allowing visitors to effortlessly enter from all directions.
The Opera’s principal design evolved from the image of drapes and folds in stage curtains and their fascinating affective qualities and immediate aesthetic impact. Like an urban curtain the facade gently wraps the monolithic volume of the Opera, separating the spaces of artistic creation from the surrounding city. The undulating facade subdivides the Opera’s large facade areas into cascades of delicate creases, effectively breaking the scale of the iconic figure down to a tangible, a human scale.
As the creases flow down the facade they start to fold into the volume towards the lower part of the building, naturally forming either an entrance or covered seating area. These coves run all along the building’s perimeter and invite visitors to rest and enjoy the view.
The design features a 1900-seat auditorium in the opera, a 1000-seat multifunctional theater designed for performance art, theatrical plays and concerts as well as a 300-seat hall for conventions, conferences or small-scale productions.

Ianus is a decorative stone tub/fountain for indoor or outdoor use.
The tub is the result of a digital simulative design and CNC fabrication with a 6 axis robot, milled from a monolithic block of Gray Shadow stone, caved in Turkey.
The design is characterized by a basin of a pure geometry, raised form the ground by a structural branching coming from a dynamic subdivision of the upper surface amplified by a gravitropic process. These irregular cave-like bodies that dig the mass, give a light base to the tub.
To amplify the reflections when filled with water, the pool is smooth polished, conversely the outer side is sanded to give a porous and soft touch to the external roots, this to better read the folds and curves.

The intention is to occupy anthropized contexts, where the green is extremely controlled or even absent, to make ready an infrastructure able to sew up again different economies (in a classical way) in a single system: a connection between flora, fauna and the urban landscape, in its different characters, physical and psychological. This project collects many aspects: it is a system, an ecology, a roof, a place…
The main structure is based on the Splinetex(™) technology, that basically is a composite pipe: steel core in a PVC glove, reinforced with a carbon fiber strata. The composite pipes are woven to make a compact, elastic and light whole, that anchors itself to the ground and the adjacent buildings. The structure is covered by a layer of PET and Titanium oxide able to absorb pollutant in the air and transform them into fertilizer for the climbing plants that grows through the pipes. A system of optical fibers distributes in defined points, a not invasive soft illumination.

The project is about the ri-territorialization of a series of commercial warehouses: combining the need to renovate the facade and to design the parking area in front of the building, the architecture reconnects the building to the surrounding environment through the staging of a new landscape that tries to absorb the character of that country side, now forgotten by that area of the town, outskirt of Pordenone.
A light modular structure supports the semi-transparent protective tech fabric and thirty thousand flexible blades that cover four thousand square meters parking area: the system offers, in the summer season, a delightful diffused shadow in different layers. The rubber blades are moved by the wind gifting an always different dynamic effect, creating an emotional landscape, evoking an evergreen grass field. The blades are part of a photovoltaic system, in fact they are covered by a soft flexible membrane equipped by small semi-spherical silicon spheres.

E.I. is the new facade of a series of warehouses dated back to the '80s, situated at the east gate of Pordenone. The expansion is designed to accommodate new offices and give a unified appearance to the complex, currently fragmented both in terms of color and shape. The particular geometry solves organically these dissonant moments: tectonic components (pillars, beams, etc..) and programmatic exigencies (openings, entrances, etc..) have been integrated into a single body, in fact, the mass of the building is stretched to generate ground supports and tears to open the interior to natural light.
The twisting surfaces are a tangible sign of the distortions due to the openings and provide special effects thanks to the sunlight reflection. The effects are amplified by the wire mesh covering: the drivers will enjoy a soft mutation of the facade, a sparkle that will make the building the main character of the street.
The volume of the new offices, aligned with the existing spaces on the second floor, is accompanied by an exterior corridor, opened to the main front. This corridor is connected with a common entrance where the stairs are integrated in one of the volumes connected to the ground. Another benefit of this corridor is to filter the office spaces from the outside space, and to protect them to the direct action of the sun and the weather: wind and solar incidence analysis have helped to shape the building, to create openings that become an integrated brise-soleil.
The offices are closed by a continuous glass wall, with the possibility of being opened for large portions, allowing to expand the perception of the office's space.
Briefly, the project proposes a flexible form that easily adapts to specific situations, while maintaining a consistent overall look.
