This video is inspired by Samuel Beckett waiting for Godot. So many people have tried to make sense out of such an obscure fascinating play. We wanted to glamourise these two characters. Introduce them to you with the naivety and innocence of a clown, a laurel and hardy type of relationship. We portrayed them as two homeless/nomadic characters embarking on an endless journey to nowhere. We played with the idea of extravagant outfits in contrast to the simple setting and the basic games of exchanging books, reading, loosing there hats and boots, in other words passing time.
This video is inspired by kafkas metamorphosis. We liked the idea of playing with the personification of a cockroach, and the relationship between brother and sister. The setting is lifelike however the situation is so surreal. A perfect opportunity to explore ambitious garments that help to bring the play to life. Being a fan of silent film we allowed the exaggerate movements, and the expressive faces (of grete) to become the lyrics to our story in contrast with the dark somber presence of gregor who's transformation into vermin ( we choose to turn into a cockroach) is very subtle, haunting yet incredibly beautiful.
